Business Models and Case Studies for Remote Condition Monitoring Services
Geoffrey Brewer, HECO, Inc.
Mike Huber, American MTS
EASA members are well positioned to expand into offering remote condition monitoring services, but the path to commercial success is not entirely clear.
In this session, three members will discuss the business models they’ve adopted to make remote condition monitoring profitable while providing high value to their customers – leading to more business. Case studies will be provided.
US Members: Workforce Development Assistance and Resources in Your State
Nathan Ginty, NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership
Crystal Bristow, Jenkins Electric Co.
Jan Schmidlkofer, K&N an Impel Company
Employee training and education is key to success, but often it’s difficult to carve out the time and funds necessary to accomplish workforce development goals. In this presentation, learn how the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and their national network of non-profit and university-based MEP Centers can help you with training and skills development for all levels of employees.
Learn the unique structure of the MEP National Network and how to get in touch with your local MEP center to take advantage of these programs.
This session will also highlight how EASA members on both coasts have used the MEP National Network to successfully advance their training and educational needs.
Tapping into Your Sales Superpower
Jeff Bajorek
The key to selling your best is not in a book or some kind of video training. It’s in your heart and your mindset. In this session, you’ll:
- Recognize the vicious cycle of doubt, mediocrity and shame
- Learn how to flip that cycle into one of belief, success and integrity
- Understand that your ultimate sales success relies on you maintaining your integrity
Motor Testing Fundamentals, Myths and Meaning
Preston Thompson, Megger
Stator ground wall and turn-to-turn insulation in good condition can withstand the normal voltage spikes from starting and stopping the motor. But periodic testing is critical. Insulation systems deteriorate over time due to mechanical movement of the windings, torque transients, heat and environmental contaminates, risking unplanned, catastrophic failures. This session will cover:
- DC testing–ground wall insulation integrity
- IEEE recommended test voltages
- Megohm tests
- DA/PI tests
- Step/high potential/ramp tests
- Surge testing–interturn insulation integrity
- IEEE recommended test value
- 80% of stator electrical failures begin at weak turn-to-turn insulation
- Test voltage rationale
- P-P EAR
- What it does
- How to use it correctly
- Interturn insulation evaluation
- NFPA 70B recommendations
- High potential test
- Surge test
